On June 14, 2008, the Asia Society is planning an all-day program to explore the influence of India on the Beats and the Beats on India.  There will be discussions, interviews, performances, and documentary exhibitions to shed light on how the Beats' encounter with India in the 1960s inspired future generations of Americans to turn to India for creative inspiration and spiritual wisdom.  Participants to include Gary Snyder, Joanne Kyger, Sunil Ganguly, Gita Mehta, Francesco Clemente, Raymond Foye and others.
